Popularity & Jesus and Prayer
Posted Feb 8, 04:43 PMLast week at The Edge we talked about an issue that a lot of middle schoolers deal with, and even struggle with, POPULARITY! Sounds normal to some but in reality this is/can be a major deal in middle school. We really opened up the false importance of being liked and being the most popular kid and the real importance of living for God. We talked about the difference between our peers’ approval and God’s approval and our decisions concerning both. We heard an amazing witness from our very own, senior in high school, Core team member, Jesse Rupnik. She shared her struggles with this issue when she was in middle school and HOW she was able to overcome and realize her true potential as a young woman of God. It was incredible!
This week at The Edge we are talking about Prayer. The question: What does praying have to do with playing soccer, going to the mall, hanging out with my friends, even doing my homework and text messaging? The answer: A LOT! Prayer is, and should be, a part of our daily lives. There was a really hilarious skit and the middle schoolers were able to take something home tonight that can help them in their prayer lives. Tonight we broke open this extremely important tool of our faith and HOW we can start using it everyday, not just when we’re in trouble.
*We are continuing our second night of our three-part series of Called To Protect training for all middle school youth. Sixth graders will be watching a short Diocesan video and the seventh and eighth graders will be hearing a short teaching on Called To Protect from our Youth Minister/Director.
Be sure to check back here to see what we are doing next week!
